Week 1 – What Is Early Years Pedagogy?
Early years pedagogy is about understanding how young children learn and using this knowledge to shape the experiences, interactions and environments we provide. It brings together relationships, play, purposeful teaching and child development to create meaningful learning opportunities. In this session, we’ll explore the principles that underpin effective EYFS pedagogy and consider what these look like in everyday practice.
Week 2 – From Framework to Practice
The EYFS framework sets out what early years provision must achieve, but high-quality practice is about how those expectations are brought to life for children every day. In this session, we’ll explore how statutory requirements, the educational programmes and principles of effective early years practice translate into purposeful provision, interactions and teaching—without allowing the framework to become a checklist.
